I have been doing a ton of research and I have decided I need to change the name of this blog. Because no one knows what the hell Organic Disease Management is. So I have changed it to Beautiful Rae in the Village of Wolves. This title is off the wall bonkers right, well it is until you hear why I decided that this would be a better name for it.
Every human on earth has parents who get to pick a name for their child, well some parents listen to their little spirits and give them the name they ask for. Well I don't remember being named or if my parents just picked it out of the sky or what, but here is the story of how I got my name.
Mom and Dad were in the hospital room, mom was holding me, they talked about naming me Monica, and a few others, they can't remember which ones they were. Dad decided we had to many cousins named Monica so my mom said Monique, and my Dad said Yes!
So I became Monique Rae Villalobos now what is really cool is when I got older I learned names had significant meanings. So in my little town of Marble in the Marble Charter School, home to about 25 kids from K-8th Grade, I desperately wanted to know what my name meant. I looked everywhere for something that could tell me what it meant and a teacher said well Monique is french. I then went to town with my mom, a thirty mile mountain winding road, 6 of it on a dirt, I loved riding in the back watching the crystal river flow down the valley through the seasons, watching the water rise and fall every year. We arrived and I started looking, I found a french book in the library with meanings in it. I was so amazed that Monique, means Beautiful in French, then I got curious about my middle name and I looked it up in the dictionary you know little girl dangling her legs off the in huge chair, turning pages looking so determined with my pointer finger sliding down the pages looking for "Rae". I finally found it and I was so excited to read that it meant Light. I exclaimed, "beautiful light!", Ha mommy guess what, my name means, "beautiful light", and then I went home and asked my dad what Villalobos means and it means, village of wolves, in Spanish.
So Monique Rae Villalobos means Beautiful Light in the Village of Wolves.
Whats really cool about this is realizing that the name fits the soul I have was so much fun and such a journey to discover how to truly be myself and be comfortable in this. I have lived many lives on this earth discovering interests, developing tools and techniques and learning about how eclectic of a human I really am. I follow my heart and intuition for every thing I do. I am beginning to share this heart with the world and all the adventures that have made me who I am. It is a rare journey and full of change, adventure and adaptation. All of it is apart of me and I can use all of these skills in developing my dream life. I am learning this, to apply all of my knowledge into all of what I know. Its is so unique amazing and real. I hope that all my readers find these stories fun, unique and inspiring to all who grace these pages with their hearts.
Thank you for all the light and support enjoy!
My personal journey has lead me into many, many interests and I discovered along the way all of my passions. So by exploring all of these interests and trades, I have learned and mastered some skills ( I still have so much to learn), I now want to share the knowledge with all I know and hope that it provides you, my readers and the world to see with new eyes, the potential we all have to create a dynamic fulfilling life.

My Health Care Journey
When I began this journey I thought for sure I would be one of those CSI girls helping stop people from harming others. In high school that's what I thought I was gonna do. The school I attended had a program called Med-Prep and it prepared you for a job in Health care. We learned in the first quarter of school all the Medical Terminology and got college credits for this class if we wanted. We studied Anatomy Physiology, we inflated pig lungs in the mechanics shop with an air compressor, we learned how to staple pig hearts from surgery. We learned how to be incredible first aid and certified nurse aids if you could pass the test. I didn't pass the first responder test, my teacher had so much faith in me she pushed me to succeed and I loved her for that. But no matter what I just couldn't take the test or any tests for that matter, I would black out and loose everything I was taught. It kinda ruined my belief in myself to succeed in the traditional way going to school was pointless if I couldn't take tests. I took the Certified Nurse Aid state test like 6 times and failed them all. I still went to work as a care giver on the floor of a Nursing home and worked for a year and a half, until one of the ladies I was close with passed on. I was so young and this caring for 105 people was just too much, who died in threes every month. I hoped I could find something else that would suit me better and I did shortly after I quit and wrote to state and turned in the whole operation at that particular place. For the things they did at that place were appalling and I vowed then to never work that kinda place again. I haven't set foot in another institution since then, 10 years now.
I have never been the traditional person to believe in education was my only ticket to winning in life. I began work at a very small assisted living, where I tortured these poor residents with my horrible cooking at the time and lack of experience with doing anything. I started working with a young man who I had gone to high school with he had autism and we had so much fun together. We would go out to eat and movies, ride horses, do his job and just read and hang out it was a blast.
I was then wondering what else could one do in a valley this small what other places could I conquer, feeling that youthful I'm gonna take over the world. I landed my next job that was the best thing that ever happened. I was working for a Hospital owned Assisted living. I loved this job I quickly worked my self up in rank and became the Administrative Activities Director, and I preformed all the jobs that were required to fill this spot. I did medication administering they got me licensed for that, then I did all the laundry helped with prepping meals and helped give baths and showers and managed the activities calender. I learned how to cook from world class chefs it was such an amazing time. We had students come in for poetry reading, play rehearsal, Valentines Day, Christmas was always sad but a lot of fun. We tried to make it a wonderful place and help the residents with what they needed and wanted.
There were two ladies who were so particular about their food intake that it was driving our kitchen staff nuts along with us who had to serve it. I mean they were going to start a war with the Hospital about the quality of food they were given. Both coming from the generation when it was okay to have slaves and living in south Africa these women knew what it was like to eat right from the garden. That was something I never experienced before. They wanted food right from the ground and I didn't realize at the time why they wanted this so badly. I get it now and have my own garden I produce most of my own food with.
I didn't know what was next for me so I quit and left that job so sad but I was ready for another adventure. I spent two years there, then I just kinda goofed off for a year or so, played in the snow, lived the high life in the Mountains of Snowmass in an unhealthy relationship. I got a call from my dad who was asking me what the heck are you doing Monique. I said dad I don't know why? He said I have a job for you its like nothing you have ever experienced and probably will not want to do. I said okay whats the job?
I need you to go to San Francisco and help a friend in need out, the job, he paused for a bit to catch his breath and tell me that it was to care for Transgenders going in for Facial reconstructive surgery. I was shocked but intrigued. Well I did't have much happening here for me and I was honestly getting board so I called the person up and said I will go with you, I have a back ground in care giving and I am licence to give medicine and I can go along and make sure you heal quickly. So they got me a ticket and I met them at the air port. Here I am tiny 5' 4" and what I see riding the escalader down to my level was a middle aged lady with hair that went to her butt, dressed in a jeans and tee shirt with a Shiva goddess on it I was like yes cool we will get along great. Next to her was what surprised me. I'm not easily shocked this person was extremely tall 7' give or take dressed in a long skirt and ruffled pink shirt, adams apple very present and a facial structure that was clearly a man. I looked as excited as I could to support the reason I was here, gave hugs and introduced ourselves. We all went down and got our vehicle for the trip and headed off to our hotel. I felt outta sorts but comfortable with both of them. We had two days before the surgery and we went to a Broadway show I had never been to one, I LOVED it! We caught eyes where ever we walked but I felt so welcomed and loved I couldn't let it bother me, because really it was them being unhappy with themselves, being projected onto someone else journey and life. I went to all the appointments and learned some tricks to talk like a guy from the private vocal coach she hired. Then I also learned that San Francisco is amazing and open and wonderful, we stayed in the Castro District. While she was in facial surgery we took off to the Muir Woods forest for a little bit of nature to help everything go smoothly, took some awesome pictures and had so much fun waiting and I was wanting more of this traveling care giving. Later that day she got out of surgery and we took turns being at her side helping her through it. We spent the days and nights with her, watching the transformation take place before my eyes. The surgeon was amazing he created this procedure for transgenders. He found his calling and that was what he wanted to do was help people feel more comfortable in their bodies. What a trip!! I had been on a whirl wind over that few weeks which felt like a life time of experience landed in my lap.
I was over watching her after the nurse came by to check up on her at the safe recovery house they had for her. We were chatting about all the amazing times we had and what a joy it was to be gifted this trip. She asked me one of those questions that just changes your whole life in a second, "Monique what do you want to do?", Right then I just knew, I said to her " I want to travel and take care of the world." She smiled and said, "Well you will". When we departed I got a note from her and it was one of the sweetest most amazing notes I have ever received and we have not had contact since then. I do miss her and I thank her with all my heart for this journey she let me share with her. I hope she is well and following her heart still.
I felt it in my heart my whole world shifted into that frame of thought and thinking how could I do this. I went back to Colorado and was changed, I spent a year doing odd jobs selling art at my families Gallery and working for my parents General Store when I got the call to care for a man who had Parkinson's disease. Meeting in the beautiful home town of Marble, Colorado then realizing that guess what I'm going to spend my winter in Hawaii. Little did I know it was not going to be the beach house life that everyone dreams of and what your typical Hawaii is thought of. This was going to be a culture shocking, world rocking adventure!
When I arrived on this amazing manicured lawn and orchard I was in total awe of what I got myself into. We were 100% off grid we didn't use electricity, in fact the power lines just stop before you get to the properties drive way. Its really cool to see that on one half of the view is the last power line then no poles or wires in your view of the ocean and passing ships. AMAZING! We ran the whole place off of Hydro Power and solar, 14 acres of orchard and farm 13 acres of jungle paradise. I learned so much about sustainable life, I want so much to build my own sanctuary like that place and live off grid. It was empowering, scary and sometimes just unbelievable that people can live like that without the consumption of products and manufacturing everything you know. The trash out put of this entire ranch of 8 people was less then a single family in a week. We just re used everything and what we couldn't we tossed very little out. I was so amazed because the awareness of just how much we waste was instilled on me. I had to develop my own ways of what we had to create first aid stuff, I had to learn about the body and how it metabolizes when infected with disease. I had to learn how to handle problems with communication with in myself and with those around me.
Funny when we have our words its hard to say what we need to say, then when we loose our voice all we want to do is say what we needed to say all along. Honesty is so vital in all situations, it doesn't matter if you have to say something just say it because it hurts so much more to hold it all in. Dynamics are so diverse in this world and it is so hard to find an easy way to communicate when we have our own issues and others have issues with talking. But I did it and I had my falls and fears, I over came them in the end and I am a stronger woman because of all these wild experiences. I'm ready for my next adventure and its writing this stuff down and hopefully finding a way to generate a life with it. This experience in Hawaii was my last travel for care giving, I now work with two companies for people who need in home care. I have a daughter now and a husband house and I run two businesses from home. This one and my jewelry company Enchanted Charms, I have a great time sharing with everyone and I have lived some crazy moments but would go back and do it all the same because it was such a trip! Hope you enjoy Aloha!

The Cannabis Miracle
Today, I was in Marble with my family discussing back pain and treatments for it and what could be of help because my father suffers from chronic pain. Dad is the strongest guy I know, I have never met anyone else with his endurance to withstand the coldest of cold working in the Yule Marble Quarry for 16 years, running heavy equipment, driving some of the rockiest roads Colorado has to offer on a daily basis in through the summers of our (my three sisters and I) childhood. All of it did a number to Dad's back, his disks are completely collapsed he also has Spinal Stenosis which creates calcium deposits around his spine and discs also scoliosis from the collapse. He could barely walk for two years, he couldn't get up out of bed, he had spinal seizures and spasms that almost paralyzed him. He would have to army crawl to the john and well lets just say he needed assistance getting up off the thing. Dad was 54 when all of this came down hard on our family, now 57. He tried it all, chiropractors helped as much as they could knowing that what he had was so severe that surgeons would recommend he have his lower lumbar bones completely chopped out of his body!! Dad tried going to a witch doctor which was really, really amazing, helped move some energy that had been trapped inside his body for years and years, acupuncture and all these exercises the practitioners gave him. Everything made him hurt more and weakened him. He was in so much pain finally that he broke down thinking he needed morphine shots to kill the pain. Knowing my dad morphine was not going to kill the pain just make him really depressed and sleepy and that is no life for this guy.
I got bold and suggested to my Dad who right now at this moment in time was completely against the MaryJane movement. So much so that I thought he was going to kill me when I suggested, I make a medical cannabis ointment for him with coconut oil.
Dad said "Shit, I'll try anything at this point".
I just about fainted on the floor when he said yes, and I was stunned my dad just said yes to me going to a pot shop and getting some medical marijuana. So I went in and got the strongest most pure Indica plant I could find. This strain is for pain and sleep. This stuff was like holy hell damn stanky organic earthy stuff. I began the break down process of making this ointment. I had seen someone make it before but never tried it myself. Intimidated as I was, I had to get my Dad back on his feet and moving again. Four hours of slow cooking the stuff in coconut oil with green tea leaf, Echinacea, flower and straining pressing the goodness out of the plants also I added many, many prayers. I placed it all in a jar and let it cool down. I gave it to my mom and she had dad start using it immediately.
What happened over the next week was a miracle, Dad started feeling better he wasn't sure why. He was on numerous vitamins, mineral supplements, Ibuprofen for pain, Amino Sculpt a supplement of collagen he was taking all this and using the salve at night.
My dad decided to try an experiment on him self, he is kind of known for this kind of thing. He stopped his regimen of vitamins and minerals pain pills and salve. Just to see how long he could go without it. Dad did okay for the day time, you could see he was in extreme pain but was biting through it by breathing it out. Bed time rolled around and at about 2 am he started to spasm so bad he couldn't move, he waited two hours in this spasm before he forced himself out of bed screaming and growling his way to the bathroom where he kept his salve. When he applied it he felt a sensation wash over him, he laid on the bathroom floor for about 15 minutes before trying to move. Scared out of his mind to move, he tried and he could! He got up and walked, WALKED to his bed and passed out he didn't have any more spasms that night or the next day! Dad was in tears when he called me and told me he could move and was not in agonizing pain, he started using it every night.
Dad went to bed one night and had a dream of building a machine that would help his back. This machine was his new obsession, the next morning he called my brother in law who is a welder and explained his idea to him. He was impressed and said sure I will build you some prototypes. When my dad sets his mind on something he gets it done! He started his machine and everyday he got better for about three months, Dad did his machine three times a day all week. He is now pain free, pain med free and salve free. We are in the process of patenting this machine so we can market it to all who suffer from lower back pain and we hope to have it out by next year.
It was a crazy three years without my dad being able to work and my mom running her art gallery with no marble products but for the first time in three years my dad is able to be himself and he has a new found respect for his body and ability to move it. "He likes to move it move it!"

Gut Health
Science is discovering the gut is the most important organ because it feeds us, it gives the body what it needs to run at optimum health. We must learn the importance of our guts, how can we do this when we are bombarded every day by the advertisements and temptations of fast food.
How can we begin helping ourselves discover the benefits of gut health.
Our days are packed full of the hustle and go, go, go mind set, this includes stopping by fast food to eat and picking up sweet fast snacks and drinks. All these things are processed in our bodies but are we getting health out of these habits? I mean it has been answered in may documentaries and specials on news. But what is the motivation that you need to help you change your habits?
We have to look at our life styles and see the value in eating new foods allowing our selves to change our perspective on whats fast and easy to grab on the go. It doesn't get more convenient then your own kitchen and yard. I don't like leaving my house for stuff. I don't do the grocery shopping unless its a short two or three things. My husband does that mostly because I get anxiety in those places.
When I lived in Hawaii and experienced eating Macrobiotic, I learned all about processed food and it really was a wake up call to all the crazy habits we have been lead to believe are okay for us to be doing. The mass production and chemicals they add are stunning. I am not saying that I don't indulge in those foods to this day but I limit them and my family limits them. We added foods into our lives that make us healthier and stronger.
There are several amazing women out there making a huge difference in how we are eating and how our bodies function. I love the book "The Body Ecology Diet", by Donna Gates and Linda Schatz. This book is full of information that awakens the mind to what an amazing world our guts are. It also is a really intense diet that has recipes and will boost your immune system to the max. It is challenging and requires discipline. Cultured foods are making a come back and people are teaching how to do this within your life. It does take time and you must be committed to learning how it works and how it helps you. "Cultured Food for Life" by Donna Schewnk founder of Culturedfoodlife.com. She is amazing and has lots of great recipes and is a joy to read. Another new book almost out on the market is, "Skinny Gut Diet" by Brenda Watson C.N.C, October 7th is the release date. I am so excited for this book and what it has in store for the amazing world of eating and health.
I started with Kombucha it is super easy and it helped me with my hormone imbalance from drinking to much caffeine, coffee and my horrible addiction to Mountain Dew, yes I am human and I grew up on the stuff and I work really hard to limit my intake now. I used to buy it off the shelves then I learned how easy it is to start and how it benefits the body, mood and gut. Kombucha is called the "Golden Elixir". The properties are still being discovered in modern day science but so far it it full of anti oxidants, micro organisms that feed the smallest of cells creating awareness and openness in all parts of the body. The drink is "ALIVE" teaming with life that feeds your cells on the most amazing level. It is really, really exciting.
Our ancestors used to live off of cultured veggies, you know back when we didn't have electricity to store food. They had cellars, for their roots and canned food and pickled and had a whole pantry dedicated to food for the winter. They put in the work to grow the foods they needed and then processed them in the home kitchen. Its difficult and challenging to over come the fear of trying to implement new foods and learning to take time to learn to feed ourselves is so important to our lives. I am in the process of building some tools to help you learn how to make this a reality in your weekly schedules. I am really excited about sharing this information with you.
I hope you join the email list so you can get freebies and access to the digital media that i will be providing. Thanks for all your support,
I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks Have a LOVE FILLED DAY!!

Old Ways used in a New World
Silver has been used for centuries. Silver was used to treat wounds and heal disease also as a disinfectant. The world is changing glass makers and hospitals are seeing the benefits of using colloidal silver in bedding and gloves and mattresses glass containers, by beginning to infuse this amazing product into the fabrics of modern medicine. Hospitals will soon have beds that have colloidal silver infused in the water proof covers because it repels germs and keeps the area sanitary.
The old ways are still alive and being practiced all over the world. One of my favorite adventures of Colloidal silver has to do with a rooster and a leg.
I arrived back in Hawaii, from visiting my family in Colorado for the holidays. I was met with an urgent wound issue. A rooster had attacked this gentleman and gouged a deep cut into the back of his leg about 3 inches long and a 1/8 inch deep. It happened just after I left for Colorado, the team exhausted their options trying all kinds of treatments and remedies, sound healing (where a person sits over top of the wound and sings in different frequencies), comfrey compress (they ground up a bunch of Comfrey plant and placed it over the wound to take inflammation and pain out and to help regenerate cell damage), a clay called Bentonite a super healing drink and application and a few others.
I unwrapped the wound and was utterly disgusted and amazed at what was occurring on the back of his leg. A black necrosis (dying skin), began to wrap around it. A wound this size would have been treated with a bandage that cover the area and helps re grow the area around it a trans-dermal medicated patch taking about 5 -10 days to heal completely. Since he didn't choose the doctor, we were left to figure out how to heal this wound. My mentor, a medicine woman taught me how to care for him. She explained all of the natural ways to help him live his life managing his disease naturally. I was taught about all the properties of many ancient tools of the kitchen and with my experience modern training. I applied the information from modern world with the tools from the ancients and created a nice blend of technique and tools.
I searched for some anti bacterial cleaners, I learned apple cider vinegar had some properties that would help kill the decaying skin and clean the wound. I also learned about Colloidal Silver and its properties, anti inflammatory and anti bacterial. You can look up Colloidal Science Laboratory for more information. The combination was a winner!
I cleaned with apple cider vinegar twice daily and wrapped it with gauze drenched in Colloidal silver, letting it soak for a five to ten minutes. Then dried it and bandaged it, for 15 days.
Day One; I opened the bandage up and saw that the black fungus was peeling off, I used gauze and apple cider vinegar with q-tips I swabbed the area and it wiped away. We applied the sliver was added to the gauze and I let it sit and within the first day we saw the skin beginning to heal. The inflammation around the wound had seized and was clearing up.
By day five, we noted that his pain and inflammation along with the necrosis was gone. Now it was just working over time to heal it. He consumed foods, I had never heard of or experienced, are full of protein and healing powers. His day started with something like these, fava beans, Adzuki beans, lentils and Kalo, an abundance of green salads rich in kale, rainbow chard, spinach, basil, cilantro, peppers topped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, sea weed (Dulce), sun dried tomatoes and sesame seed, flax and hemp seeds. Between the foods healing powers and the magic combo, he managed to heal completely in 15 days. In his late 70's with that size wound healing completely is remarkable.
Colloidal Silver is also used to bring balance to the pH when ingested. The human body has a pH and if we are to acidic we are more at risk for cancers, if we are to basic we become at risk for many diseases like bone resorption acidosis and metabolic aklaosis. Check out LIVESTRONG.com Blog Diseases Caused by alkaline or acid pH in the body for a nice short and sweet explanation.
I loved mixing the old with the new. I added this combination to my vault of information for use in the future. All of the foods helped with cell regeneration. He slept so much during those days it was unbelievable. But his body was doing the work and he was allowing it to do the work by sleeping and not wasting any energy on anything else just healing that leg up so he could use it again.
Fava beans are wonderful beans, they have a low dose of dopamine in them and they are so yummy freshly sprouted also in stews they are amazing. These beans pack a punch to the mitochondria cells it puts them into over drive like the hulk. Adzuki beans are delicious to make as a soup, these are a beautiful bean and also deliver health to all the cells in our systems. Lentil's are used in curry, we made a bunch of down there. He ate lilicoi for a enriching sweet snack, this fruit is also carries a formula to stimulate the dopamine imbalance that occurs in Parkinson's and other diseases that control the muscles and keep them from shaking uncontrollably.
All this was proof to me that it does exist, living with no modern treatments or medications is possible and that the combination of these new and old ways is the key to balancing disease and sickness. Allowing our bodies to do their jobs in protecting us and healing us, listening to what they tell us we need to do to feel better and stronger. Some things are preventable other are not and we have to choose the best way to manage our bodies.

Waking the Soul...
This morning we had our routine hastened by the need to swim in the ocean.
The water was calling us. His wife, me and another young lady in training came with us.
We packed the car with all the necessities for him his chair, food and swim suit and some sunscreen. Over the last few days we developed a special relationship and understanding of what he needed, he built a trust in us that was a unique psychic bond.
We arrived the water was soft and gentle, the surface smooth the water sparkled like blue gems and the was coast speckled with Kei'ave trees green tops and and lava rock walls to form the path into an old rail system.
His wife helped us get him ready to hit the water, then took off on her swim. The tide was up at the old sugar cane dock, speckled in black lava rock and white cement to out line the waters edge. We talked with him and asked if he would like to jump in or use the ladder. He waited about 5-7 minutes, with his delay in speech, to give us a for sure jump in look. I jumped in first and was waiting there in the water for him he grabbed his beautiful blond girl with eyes that matched the waters that day, by the hand and then jumped... Time seemed to freeze as they splashed into the water. People were using their cameras to record this frail old man who looked to be 80 pounds and who couldn't walk without assistance, he shuffled to the edge of the pier. If only I had a GoPro to catch all the action or track down one of those videos because they all thought we were crazy letting this little old guy do that.
The crowd was in awe, they all cheered as he landed. I attached myself to him and centered my hand and arm under his back his head rested on my shoulder and we floated in the water for 10 to 15 minutes. After the surge of adrenaline, he relaxed into pure serenity. The ocean wrapped him in a blanket of no gravity and the water held him, the memories of life passing through his mind as he floated. We guided him back to the dock he carefully climbed out of the water and the crowd let him know how they felt about him.
He flashed a massive smile when we got back to the car to head home. This smile was enough to show us true gratitude and joy for the gift of the youthful feeling of adrenaline. The feeling to be independent once again and make that leap of faith in that moment with us by his side, that is a gift not everyone gets at the end of life on this earth.
A revelation occurred to me that day, my work is a gift and it is unlike anything else on earth. It is the truth in bringing independence to someones life. This is priceless and true. It is these memories that make it joyful to look back at. Living in the moment and providing a gift to a family that may not have ever had those experiences without the love and compassion of a true care giver.

The human will power to endure through all, he fought to live fully and as alive as he could inside and out. He fought through it all learning how to identify with what his body needed, listening to that and feeding it what it needed. What to take that made any kind of difference in his physical form. Diagnosed at 45 and managed it till 80. He taught me that no matter what life gives you, you can make it the best time of your life and just LOVE IT!
Thanks you guys~~ Much Aloha and Love!!

A Daily Regimen
Daily I would wake up run down to the beach and then grab some Jamaican Lilacoi and papaya with aloe. I would head into work at 7am. I would help him get up, showered, moisturized with aloe leaves and coconut oil for sunscreen. Both have UV protection built in and used together you get a double dose of UV protection
We would start with his supplements, this was a long process, his reflexes were a little sleepy first thing so it would sometimes take five to 10 minutes to get these into his body. It began with a root called Macuna, this root is out of Japan and is illegal in the US because it is such a high dose of Dopamine. We administered 1/8th teaspoon every 20-30 minutes this managed all of his shaking. mixed in his aloe lime. We added liquid vitamin B to help his dementia spells, CoQ10 for immune system and digestive function. Krill oil, selenium, calcium because he didn't eat dairy. He took Ginkgo for his brain and memory. To determine the amount of Macuna he needed a blood test was done to tell what amount of dopamine was missing in the body, then we calculated this every two years to make sure there wasn't a change in his system.
I would make a full breakfast packed with power foods. His favorite was my home made fresh salsa and chopped Kalo with a poached egg.
For those who don't know what Kalo is, it is a huge root that is packed full of happy enzymes and proteins. The Polynesians and Hawaiians used it for making a delicious fermented treat called "Poi". This root is so good for us it should replace bread, noodles and potatoes. It is a super food! When cooking this root you must peel the skin off, you have to use some elbow grease cause it has a thick hide. Once that is done the root starts to ooze a thick white resin that is so sticky and can be poisonous if not cooked thoroughly then you could seal your throat with the enzyme in this plant. So STEAM IT FOR 45 minutes or longer depending on altitude.
add clove of garlic, and cubed steamed Kalo.(I always made Kalo the night before, it would a few days one root fed us for a few days).
Add some cilantro . Shut off heat, add a little bit of water crack egg and put it on top, cover with lid and let steam until its done.
Place on the plate topped with caramelized onions some Kim-chi if you like it hot hot hot.
This is one of the many breakfasts I made with him.
Food art was what he lived for.
Much more to come thanks for reading !

Naturally Managing Parkinson's diease
Welcome to my first blog. Monique is the name, I am a personal care giver for seniors and disabled. This is a story and lesson rolled into one.
It begins in a dark place as most adventures are born here.
You know that space where your whole world kinda falls apart and you are left searching for answers and your soul that just faded into its self.
It was here, I discovered the Tao and other ancient teachings, I CHING and many others.
I had worked as Health Care Provider and Activities Director, in Local Nursing and Assisted livings for 6 years. Now 23, I wanted adventure and to help someone who would challenge my abilities and teach me new things. I wanted so badly to spend winters in Hawaii, I didn't know how or why but I really wanted to care for someone who choose the natural disease management route living out life 100% natural not interference with modern medicine and drugs. I didn't know if it existed but I could hope and believe it could be real.
Two weeks went by, I managed a very small general store and RV park in my home town in Colorado. Marble, population 85, home to some hardy thick headed, big Hearted souls. At some point all these folks left civilization and landed in the Rockies for some sanity.
A neighbor called me and said I have a friend who is coming in he has Parkinson's Disease. I naturally said yes I would love to meet them. I drove up this windy dirt road in my 1994 purple dodge neon, you follow cliffs and narrow turns that are just piles of deep deep dust. Sometimes running into huge dodge trucks hauling horse trailers, then a quick reverse till you had a spot to pull off.
I turned into the drive way and two yurts appeared located in the aspen trees the Mountain view is spectacular. The house sits right on the cliff with a covered patio over looking a waterfall lake river and the town.
I walked in the huge Bali Framed doors and there sitting with his daughter in law was this, tiny, fragile white haired man with the deepest blue eyes and a smile that melts the heart of every woman. Our eyes met and a chemistry so magical appeared he stood up and walked to his shoes. His daughter in law in tears, he hadn't walked that easily in two years. He put his shoes on, with one look I knew this man and I were meant to be. He walked me up a mountain one mile at 9000 feet. With Parkinson's and no medication, my dream was coming true. I didn't realize they were from Hawaii until I spoke to his wife on the phone, on my second day she hadn't met me yet. That conversation went something like, "so when are you coming to Hawaii? She was blunt to the point and determined to have help with him. I was shocked and blown away that the universe just delivered exactly what I wanted... I flew down there a month later, I left a man behind what was a child hood friend and who loved me deeply. We just were not meant to be in this life.
I arrived in Hilo, it had been arranged that I stay with some Friends and then meet this old man at a local cafe in down town. My ex had walked me down to the cafe the next morning. We sat there waiting and then this tall wispy man in his 70's walked by and sat down. I thought it was him I asked are you Tim. He smiled politely and said, "You are going to care for Andre, he is so stubborn and you are but a child." Offended by his immediate judgement of me, I stated well are you ready for the ride back to the ranch. He explained how things work out there and that we were off the grid and used hydro electricity, we don't shop in the store we shop from the land. And we practice acceptance of all things including his wispy white hair flowing in the wind from the truck window rolled down.
I was shocked at what I had signed up for but it was perfect.
I had my own bungalow out in the orchard right next to a grapefruit tree. That night I settled in, screen and thatched walls, I learned really quickly that the rain blows in the Jungle and if your roof is off pitch you will get soaking wet. So I managed to move into the yoga studio until we found another suitable place. My first night on the ranch was Surreal. I just moved out of everything familiar to me and out of my comfort zone crazy quickly.
My first day, I was put alone with him for a 72hours. I spent a few hours learning how to cook his food with his wife before she left. In that first three hours with her I learned more about food and disease management then I ever could have in A College.
I learned his supplements were crucial to his disease management and his rich healing foods helped his shaking, pain and dementia spells. All these things were managed naturally by foods and supplements. I learned Aloe is edible and its a treat with lime juice and agave.
He loved pancakes but these were bran cakes that I just made up with mango and papaya topped. I made home made macadamia nut pancakes with plantain bananas and surnaum cherries were a perfect snack. Our beach picnic included rich, soups and sweet potatoes from the farm near by. Everything was done without going to the store, his sugar intake was so low only chocolate was his weakness. We would sneak off some mornings and get a chocolate muffin and tea in the morning and people watch. We loved to socialize and work out, go swimming and sit on the beach listening to the waves roll in. I would let him drive the electric car through the orchard making him feel so independent and alive. It was a beautiful gift to be there and help him and his family. I learned so much... This is only the beginning of the story so please come back for more!
