Old Ways used in a New World
Silver has been used for centuries. Silver was used to treat wounds and heal disease also as a disinfectant. The world is changing glass makers and hospitals are seeing the benefits of using colloidal silver in bedding and gloves and mattresses glass containers, by beginning to infuse this amazing product into the fabrics of modern medicine. Hospitals will soon have beds that have colloidal silver infused in the water proof covers because it repels germs and keeps the area sanitary.
The old ways are still alive and being practiced all over the world. One of my favorite adventures of Colloidal silver has to do with a rooster and a leg.
I arrived back in Hawaii, from visiting my family in Colorado for the holidays. I was met with an urgent wound issue. A rooster had attacked this gentleman and gouged a deep cut into the back of his leg about 3 inches long and a 1/8 inch deep. It happened just after I left for Colorado, the team exhausted their options trying all kinds of treatments and remedies, sound healing (where a person sits over top of the wound and sings in different frequencies), comfrey compress (they ground up a bunch of Comfrey plant and placed it over the wound to take inflammation and pain out and to help regenerate cell damage), a clay called Bentonite a super healing drink and application and a few others.
I unwrapped the wound and was utterly disgusted and amazed at what was occurring on the back of his leg. A black necrosis (dying skin), began to wrap around it. A wound this size would have been treated with a bandage that cover the area and helps re grow the area around it a trans-dermal medicated patch taking about 5 -10 days to heal completely. Since he didn't choose the doctor, we were left to figure out how to heal this wound. My mentor, a medicine woman taught me how to care for him. She explained all of the natural ways to help him live his life managing his disease naturally. I was taught about all the properties of many ancient tools of the kitchen and with my experience modern training. I applied the information from modern world with the tools from the ancients and created a nice blend of technique and tools.
I searched for some anti bacterial cleaners, I learned apple cider vinegar had some properties that would help kill the decaying skin and clean the wound. I also learned about Colloidal Silver and its properties, anti inflammatory and anti bacterial. You can look up Colloidal Science Laboratory for more information. The combination was a winner!
I cleaned with apple cider vinegar twice daily and wrapped it with gauze drenched in Colloidal silver, letting it soak for a five to ten minutes. Then dried it and bandaged it, for 15 days.
Day One; I opened the bandage up and saw that the black fungus was peeling off, I used gauze and apple cider vinegar with q-tips I swabbed the area and it wiped away. We applied the sliver was added to the gauze and I let it sit and within the first day we saw the skin beginning to heal. The inflammation around the wound had seized and was clearing up.
By day five, we noted that his pain and inflammation along with the necrosis was gone. Now it was just working over time to heal it. He consumed foods, I had never heard of or experienced, are full of protein and healing powers. His day started with something like these, fava beans, Adzuki beans, lentils and Kalo, an abundance of green salads rich in kale, rainbow chard, spinach, basil, cilantro, peppers topped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, sea weed (Dulce), sun dried tomatoes and sesame seed, flax and hemp seeds. Between the foods healing powers and the magic combo, he managed to heal completely in 15 days. In his late 70's with that size wound healing completely is remarkable.
Colloidal Silver is also used to bring balance to the pH when ingested. The human body has a pH and if we are to acidic we are more at risk for cancers, if we are to basic we become at risk for many diseases like bone resorption acidosis and metabolic aklaosis. Check out LIVESTRONG.com Blog Diseases Caused by alkaline or acid pH in the body for a nice short and sweet explanation.
I loved mixing the old with the new. I added this combination to my vault of information for use in the future. All of the foods helped with cell regeneration. He slept so much during those days it was unbelievable. But his body was doing the work and he was allowing it to do the work by sleeping and not wasting any energy on anything else just healing that leg up so he could use it again.
Fava beans are wonderful beans, they have a low dose of dopamine in them and they are so yummy freshly sprouted also in stews they are amazing. These beans pack a punch to the mitochondria cells it puts them into over drive like the hulk. Adzuki beans are delicious to make as a soup, these are a beautiful bean and also deliver health to all the cells in our systems. Lentil's are used in curry, we made a bunch of down there. He ate lilicoi for a enriching sweet snack, this fruit is also carries a formula to stimulate the dopamine imbalance that occurs in Parkinson's and other diseases that control the muscles and keep them from shaking uncontrollably.
All this was proof to me that it does exist, living with no modern treatments or medications is possible and that the combination of these new and old ways is the key to balancing disease and sickness. Allowing our bodies to do their jobs in protecting us and healing us, listening to what they tell us we need to do to feel better and stronger. Some things are preventable other are not and we have to choose the best way to manage our bodies.

Waking the Soul...
This morning we had our routine hastened by the need to swim in the ocean.
The water was calling us. His wife, me and another young lady in training came with us.
We packed the car with all the necessities for him his chair, food and swim suit and some sunscreen. Over the last few days we developed a special relationship and understanding of what he needed, he built a trust in us that was a unique psychic bond.
We arrived the water was soft and gentle, the surface smooth the water sparkled like blue gems and the was coast speckled with Kei'ave trees green tops and and lava rock walls to form the path into an old rail system.
His wife helped us get him ready to hit the water, then took off on her swim. The tide was up at the old sugar cane dock, speckled in black lava rock and white cement to out line the waters edge. We talked with him and asked if he would like to jump in or use the ladder. He waited about 5-7 minutes, with his delay in speech, to give us a for sure jump in look. I jumped in first and was waiting there in the water for him he grabbed his beautiful blond girl with eyes that matched the waters that day, by the hand and then jumped... Time seemed to freeze as they splashed into the water. People were using their cameras to record this frail old man who looked to be 80 pounds and who couldn't walk without assistance, he shuffled to the edge of the pier. If only I had a GoPro to catch all the action or track down one of those videos because they all thought we were crazy letting this little old guy do that.
The crowd was in awe, they all cheered as he landed. I attached myself to him and centered my hand and arm under his back his head rested on my shoulder and we floated in the water for 10 to 15 minutes. After the surge of adrenaline, he relaxed into pure serenity. The ocean wrapped him in a blanket of no gravity and the water held him, the memories of life passing through his mind as he floated. We guided him back to the dock he carefully climbed out of the water and the crowd let him know how they felt about him.
He flashed a massive smile when we got back to the car to head home. This smile was enough to show us true gratitude and joy for the gift of the youthful feeling of adrenaline. The feeling to be independent once again and make that leap of faith in that moment with us by his side, that is a gift not everyone gets at the end of life on this earth.
A revelation occurred to me that day, my work is a gift and it is unlike anything else on earth. It is the truth in bringing independence to someones life. This is priceless and true. It is these memories that make it joyful to look back at. Living in the moment and providing a gift to a family that may not have ever had those experiences without the love and compassion of a true care giver.

The human will power to endure through all, he fought to live fully and as alive as he could inside and out. He fought through it all learning how to identify with what his body needed, listening to that and feeding it what it needed. What to take that made any kind of difference in his physical form. Diagnosed at 45 and managed it till 80. He taught me that no matter what life gives you, you can make it the best time of your life and just LOVE IT!
Thanks you guys~~ Much Aloha and Love!!

A Daily Regimen
Daily I would wake up run down to the beach and then grab some Jamaican Lilacoi and papaya with aloe. I would head into work at 7am. I would help him get up, showered, moisturized with aloe leaves and coconut oil for sunscreen. Both have UV protection built in and used together you get a double dose of UV protection
We would start with his supplements, this was a long process, his reflexes were a little sleepy first thing so it would sometimes take five to 10 minutes to get these into his body. It began with a root called Macuna, this root is out of Japan and is illegal in the US because it is such a high dose of Dopamine. We administered 1/8th teaspoon every 20-30 minutes this managed all of his shaking. mixed in his aloe lime. We added liquid vitamin B to help his dementia spells, CoQ10 for immune system and digestive function. Krill oil, selenium, calcium because he didn't eat dairy. He took Ginkgo for his brain and memory. To determine the amount of Macuna he needed a blood test was done to tell what amount of dopamine was missing in the body, then we calculated this every two years to make sure there wasn't a change in his system.
I would make a full breakfast packed with power foods. His favorite was my home made fresh salsa and chopped Kalo with a poached egg.
For those who don't know what Kalo is, it is a huge root that is packed full of happy enzymes and proteins. The Polynesians and Hawaiians used it for making a delicious fermented treat called "Poi". This root is so good for us it should replace bread, noodles and potatoes. It is a super food! When cooking this root you must peel the skin off, you have to use some elbow grease cause it has a thick hide. Once that is done the root starts to ooze a thick white resin that is so sticky and can be poisonous if not cooked thoroughly then you could seal your throat with the enzyme in this plant. So STEAM IT FOR 45 minutes or longer depending on altitude.
add clove of garlic, and cubed steamed Kalo.(I always made Kalo the night before, it would a few days one root fed us for a few days).
Add some cilantro . Shut off heat, add a little bit of water crack egg and put it on top, cover with lid and let steam until its done.
Place on the plate topped with caramelized onions some Kim-chi if you like it hot hot hot.
This is one of the many breakfasts I made with him.
Food art was what he lived for.
Much more to come thanks for reading !

Naturally Managing Parkinson's diease
Welcome to my first blog. Monique is the name, I am a personal care giver for seniors and disabled. This is a story and lesson rolled into one.
It begins in a dark place as most adventures are born here.
You know that space where your whole world kinda falls apart and you are left searching for answers and your soul that just faded into its self.
It was here, I discovered the Tao and other ancient teachings, I CHING and many others.
I had worked as Health Care Provider and Activities Director, in Local Nursing and Assisted livings for 6 years. Now 23, I wanted adventure and to help someone who would challenge my abilities and teach me new things. I wanted so badly to spend winters in Hawaii, I didn't know how or why but I really wanted to care for someone who choose the natural disease management route living out life 100% natural not interference with modern medicine and drugs. I didn't know if it existed but I could hope and believe it could be real.
Two weeks went by, I managed a very small general store and RV park in my home town in Colorado. Marble, population 85, home to some hardy thick headed, big Hearted souls. At some point all these folks left civilization and landed in the Rockies for some sanity.
A neighbor called me and said I have a friend who is coming in he has Parkinson's Disease. I naturally said yes I would love to meet them. I drove up this windy dirt road in my 1994 purple dodge neon, you follow cliffs and narrow turns that are just piles of deep deep dust. Sometimes running into huge dodge trucks hauling horse trailers, then a quick reverse till you had a spot to pull off.
I turned into the drive way and two yurts appeared located in the aspen trees the Mountain view is spectacular. The house sits right on the cliff with a covered patio over looking a waterfall lake river and the town.
I walked in the huge Bali Framed doors and there sitting with his daughter in law was this, tiny, fragile white haired man with the deepest blue eyes and a smile that melts the heart of every woman. Our eyes met and a chemistry so magical appeared he stood up and walked to his shoes. His daughter in law in tears, he hadn't walked that easily in two years. He put his shoes on, with one look I knew this man and I were meant to be. He walked me up a mountain one mile at 9000 feet. With Parkinson's and no medication, my dream was coming true. I didn't realize they were from Hawaii until I spoke to his wife on the phone, on my second day she hadn't met me yet. That conversation went something like, "so when are you coming to Hawaii? She was blunt to the point and determined to have help with him. I was shocked and blown away that the universe just delivered exactly what I wanted... I flew down there a month later, I left a man behind what was a child hood friend and who loved me deeply. We just were not meant to be in this life.
I arrived in Hilo, it had been arranged that I stay with some Friends and then meet this old man at a local cafe in down town. My ex had walked me down to the cafe the next morning. We sat there waiting and then this tall wispy man in his 70's walked by and sat down. I thought it was him I asked are you Tim. He smiled politely and said, "You are going to care for Andre, he is so stubborn and you are but a child." Offended by his immediate judgement of me, I stated well are you ready for the ride back to the ranch. He explained how things work out there and that we were off the grid and used hydro electricity, we don't shop in the store we shop from the land. And we practice acceptance of all things including his wispy white hair flowing in the wind from the truck window rolled down.
I was shocked at what I had signed up for but it was perfect.
I had my own bungalow out in the orchard right next to a grapefruit tree. That night I settled in, screen and thatched walls, I learned really quickly that the rain blows in the Jungle and if your roof is off pitch you will get soaking wet. So I managed to move into the yoga studio until we found another suitable place. My first night on the ranch was Surreal. I just moved out of everything familiar to me and out of my comfort zone crazy quickly.
My first day, I was put alone with him for a 72hours. I spent a few hours learning how to cook his food with his wife before she left. In that first three hours with her I learned more about food and disease management then I ever could have in A College.
I learned his supplements were crucial to his disease management and his rich healing foods helped his shaking, pain and dementia spells. All these things were managed naturally by foods and supplements. I learned Aloe is edible and its a treat with lime juice and agave.
He loved pancakes but these were bran cakes that I just made up with mango and papaya topped. I made home made macadamia nut pancakes with plantain bananas and surnaum cherries were a perfect snack. Our beach picnic included rich, soups and sweet potatoes from the farm near by. Everything was done without going to the store, his sugar intake was so low only chocolate was his weakness. We would sneak off some mornings and get a chocolate muffin and tea in the morning and people watch. We loved to socialize and work out, go swimming and sit on the beach listening to the waves roll in. I would let him drive the electric car through the orchard making him feel so independent and alive. It was a beautiful gift to be there and help him and his family. I learned so much... This is only the beginning of the story so please come back for more!
